FOUNDER AND CLINICAL DIRECTOR
Adriana is the founder and Clinical Director at Elephant Therapy and Training and Role Modelling. She is a BPS Chartered and HCPC Registered Consultant Clinical Psychologist, in-depth executive coach, peak performance consultant and a psychotherapist holding extensive experience across several psychological and psychotherapeutic models, working with older adolescents, adults and older adults, individuals, couples and families. Having spent most of her life living between New York, Paris, Milan, Tokyo, Singapore and London, she has been supporting multi-ethnic and multi-cultural people from all walks of life.
Adriana has a PhD from The University of Essex, UK, Department of Psychosocial and Psychoanalytic Studies and has a Masters from G. Marconi University and a Bachelors from La Sapienza University in Italy.
She has worked in various settings such as hospitals, day centres, private practice as well as in the corporate and business worlds. Amongst her past experiences, Adriana has worked as an international consultant clinical psychologist and Director of another leading private psychology practice in Singapore before founding Elephant Therapy & Training.
Her approach is integrative: She customises her treatment or consulting approach according to the unique requirements of her clients, drawing from a number of distinct approaches carefully and purposefully integrated to suit their specific needs, with a strong emphasis on the quality of the therapeutic relationship, working through the inevitable phenomenology unfolding within the therapeutic setting.
Adriana’s approach is rooted in psychodynamic theories and practice (mainly stemming from Jungian, relational and Object Relation theories) and integrates skilfully onto such foundations theories, skills and tools deriving from embodied & somatic psychotherapy, CBT and ‘3rd wave CBT’ frameworks – including Schema Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy and Mindfulness Based Therapy – attachment based, transpersonal, EMDR, somatosensory and trauma theories. She holds a spiritual vision of life and integrates Western psychology with Eastern philosophies, providing a unique, holistic, pioneering and powerful approach in practice to facilitate wellbeing and true happiness in her clients' lives.
Being a researcher with a specific focus on the field of gender studies as well as the impact of celebrities’ media images on females’ identities and sense of self, her main areas of specialty are related to low self-esteem, low self-confidence, identity lability, body image, alexithymia, eating and feeding and gender role issues.
Adriana is also highly experienced with relationship issues, parenting skills and in the treatment of depression, anxiety, trauma loss, grief and life transitions. Moreover, she loves helping people unleashing their most authentic selves, inner strength and resources, exploring their existential questions, facilitating the access to their authentic desire and higher self to achieve genuine, long-lasting and consistent happiness and fulfilment in life and to express who they are in the world to the fullest.
Adriana speaks fluent English, Italian and French.
The Elephant Team has been built up steadily over the last 3 years, with a focus on quality, underpinned by our values of INTEGRITY, RELIABILITY and COMPASSION. Our focus is on resolving the underlying issues rather than solely providing a "quick fix" for a symptom, as in the latter case the risk is the symptom returns without work on the underlying aspects causing it. In fact, we treat the symptom as our "friend", giving us a signpost to the underlying issues which present themselves.
The team have been selected because they are:
- all very well qualified, having at least a Doctorate, PhD or Masters in a relevant area
- have undergone further training in areas such as Schema Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, EMDR, Flash Technique, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Play therapy and other expressive therapies. This allows the team to customise their approach for each client.
- required to attend external supervision and internal weekly peer supervision, the latter being led by Adriana. This provides "quality control", given mental healthcare therapy is currently unregulated in Singapore
- registered with an internationally recognised association or society
- all committed to undertaking Continued Professional Development, ensuring they are up to date with the latest therapeutic techniques with a mindset of always learning
We take great effort to ensure the right team member is allocated to each client so please do get in touch using our online system and we will gladly refer you to one of our well qualified clinicians.
