About Us

Our Mission

Supporting and empowering communities through the provision of exemplary therapy, pioneering training, professional development, in-depth executive coaching and corporate services.

About the Founder

Dr. Adriana Giotta, PhD re-located to Singapore in 2013 having spent most of her life living between New York, Paris, Milan, Tokyo and London working with multi-ethnic and multi-cultural people from all walks of life.

As a curious and passionate learner, recognising a clinician’s need, within the young and fast growing field of psychology, to maintain a life of Continuing Professional Development (‘CPD’), Adriana soon noticed the scarcity of opportunities in Singapore and the neighbouring region for regular CPD workshops and conferences to learn, connect and share with fellow researchers and clinicians. She thus took responsibility to fill the gap, developing the arena within the fields of clinical psychology, psychotherapy and depth psychology in South East Asia, in particular where clinicians were looking for further high quality CPD to better equip themselves in serving the community, thereby becoming more empowered as clinicians.

adriana giotta

Adriana began this journey when she took on the role of Director at a leading private practice in Singapore, where she forged relationships with foreign training experts in the field of psychotherapy and clinical psychology inviting them to Singapore to upskill the local clinicians. The courses proved to be extremely popular, selling out well in advance. Over time, this has grown to a significant contribution for Singapore’s CPD and is congruous with the Government’s intent to invest in the population.

Indeed, as Singapore has grown, so too has the need for training of clinicians to help support the wider population through some of the growing pains of an expanding nation, as is evidenced by the Ministry of Health’s focus on a five-year Community Mental Health Masterplan launched in 2017 which boosts integrated health and social care services, and manifests itself through investment in counsellors, occupational therapists and psychologists.

Adriana and Andrew, the co-founder, took this journey to the next level in January 2018 by setting up Elephant Therapy & Training with its dedicated training facility and an overarching mission to empower communities.

Why Elephant?

Our Vision

A world of empowered and flourishing human beings.

What makes Elephant special?

1.

Quality

Each member of our team is carefully selected to ensure the highest standard of care for our clients. Every clinician at Elephant must, at a minimum, possess a recognised Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology, Counselling or Psychotherapy. As an added layer of care beyond the qualifications recommended under the code of ethics set forth by the Singapore Psychological Society and the Singapore Association of Counsellors,we require each of our clinicians to continue their professional growth by maintaining a minimum number of Continued Professional Development (CPD) hours each year.

2.

Care from within

To ensure that our team provides optimal level of care for their clients and to prevent clinical burnout, Elephant ensures each clinician’s caseload does not exceed a certain number per week. We also require attendance at a weekly peer supervision to provide a supportive environment within the company for them to develop professionally. Elephant’s clinicians are also required to undergo consistent individual clinical supervision regardless of experience levels to ensure continued learning, growth, self-care and ethical care for their clients.

3.

Forefront of training

Elephant Training was founded upon the mission of empowerment. As such, our founders have always put personal and professional development of the team and the wider professional community at large as a priority. Elephant was a trailblazer in the Singapore psychology professional development scene and the first to bring Schema Therapy training to clinicians in Singapore. Since then, Elephant has continued to provide training opportunities led by industry experts and our team for individuals, the psychological community and corporate companies in the Asia Pacific region and worldwide.

4.

Empowering communities

Elephant’s mission goes beyond supporting individuals. We offer different services for corporate entities and professionals that include Employee Assistance Programs, exclusive in-depth executive coaching, personal coaching, professional development, corporate training and corporate retreats. We aim to empower and upskill whole communities and the individuals within those communities to grow and work effectively in the workplace.
